How does Guild Elementary School reach out to the public and/or others who are not as blessed?

  1. Clothing Closet:  This closet, refurbished by the JSL of Gallatin, contains dozens of coats, shirts, slacks, jeans, undergarments, socks, shoes, and other clothing items of all sizes for our students in need.  Donations to the Clothing Closet are welcomed at anytime, new and/or used (clean).

  2. Donating school supplies to children in need

  3. Donations: To victims of recent tornado (April 2006).

  4. Food Can Drive for Hurricane victims:  September 2004 and September 2005.

  5. Food Can Drive:  October 2004 and 2005 donations go to Gallatin High School as it competes in the News 2 Food for Families competition.

  6. Sponsor-seeking for Christmas gifts to go to children in need (each school year).  This past year, over 100 students received Christmas gift sponsorship due to the efforts of Guild faculty members.

Opportunities for Parental/Family Involvement at Guild Elementary School:

  1. Beach Days:  Each May

  2. Book Fair and Family Nights (Book Fair):  November and March

  3. Carnival:  April 2006

  4. Chorus Performances:  (1) Family Nights      (2)  Christmas Program     (3)  Talent Show         (4)  Grand Openings of local businesses (PUBLIX  2005)  (5)  Graduation ceremonies

  5. Christmas Program:  Last year's attendance topped 1,000 (counting the 296 children who participated)!  Due to overcrowding in 2004, this event was held at the Gallatin Civic Center in 2005.

  6. Classroom Mothers:  Assist teachers with various tasks throughout the school year.

  7. E-mail:  each teacher has his/her own account, giving parents quick and easy communication with their child's teacher

  8. Field Days:  May of each school year

  9. Field Trips:  Throughout each school year

  10. Graduation ceremonies:  Kindergarten and 5th grade (May of each school year).

  11. Honors Nights:  Every other Six Weeks Period  students from two six-week periods are honored.

  12. Parent-Teacher Conferences (official:  October of each school year;  unofficial:  throughout the school year, with advanced notice)

  13. Parent-Teacher Organization:  Events and activities throughout the year

  14. Proctoring:  During TCAP Weeks (assist teachers with student supervision)

  15. Substitute Teaching:  Fill out an application at the Sumner County School Central Office building;  substitute teachers are always needed!

  16. Title I. Awards Night:  Each May
